We teamed up with long-standing customer Kingston Landscape Group to supply thousands of plants worth £90,000 to an award-winning £1 billion inner-city redevelopment in London.
Twickenham-based Kingston Landscape Group asked us to provide thousands of plants for Colindale Gardens, a £1 billion inner-city redevelopment scheme in Barnet, north-west London.
The renovation project carried out by Redrow, one of Britain’s largest housebuilders, involved creating 2,900 new one- to four-bedroom homes in nine acres of grounds. The scheme incorporated a cycle path, walkways, cafes, shopping plaza, school, restaurants and a residents-only gym.
Time was of the essence, as Redrow required a substantial amount of work to be completed in a short space of time. It was paramount that the plant deliveries arrived on time, were true to spec and were of the correct amount.
We embraced the opportunity to provide the highest level of quality and service for this project. Our supply began in 2017 and included the supply of more than 900 hedging plants and some instant hedging. Also part of the contract was more than 5,000 herbaceous plants and nearly 7,000 shrubs – including 2L, 5L and 10L plants.
We delivered on our promises and, thanks to the organisation and strong teamwork between all the parties concerned, the project was a huge success.
Redrow has invested a further £11m into the Colindale Underground Station and Northern Line to support the new development.
The project resulted in Kingston Landscape Group winning a British Association of Landscape Industries (BALI) 2018 award in the category of Soft Landscaping Construction (Non-Domestic) – cost between £300k and £1.5m. Kingston was also shortlisted for two Association of Professional Landscapers awards in the Soft Landscaping and Commercial Garden category.
Managing Director of Kingston Landscape Group, Abigail Evans said “Johnsons have been a preferred supplier for over 5 years, they consistently supply high-quality stock within our budgets and can work with our demanding turnaround times.
