Johnsons Nurseries Ltd teamed up with an award-winning landscaping firm to provide Christmas trees at Spinningfields in Manchester, one of Europe’s largest and most successful urban regeneration projects.
Johnsons was asked to supply festive foliage to Spinningfields in Manchester, one of Europe’s most successful urban regeneration projects.
With around 5.5 million visitors a year, the area forms an entirely new quarter in the city and is at the heart of the business and corporate community.
Home to over 165 world-class financial and commercial service organisations, Spinningfields is a vibrant destination with luxury international fashion brands, bars and restaurants including Mulberry, Tattu and The Ivy.
Johnsons supplied Christmas trees to Spinningfields, including 50 Picea Omorika, or Serbian spruce, a medium-sized evergreen tree frequently used at Christmas because of its striking crown.
Ground Control Ltd fitted and planted the Christmas trees in an outdoor area that has been made into a city centre park and which incorporates the Pavilion Building, home to The Ivy.
The trees were part of a designed called The Fields, devised by landscape architects Layer, to create a festive atmosphere to support The Ivy’s launch at the end of November.
The trees were a beautiful addition to Hardman Square and were installed prior to The Ivy’s launch on November 27, 2018. This was a wonderful opportunity to be associated with such an iconic area in the heart of Manchester, as well as working alongside our long-standing customer Ground Control Ltd.
Ground Control Ltd’s construction manager, Steven Yates, said: “ Ground Control is very pleased to have carried out the hard and soft landscaping on Hardman Square Furthermore the trees supplied by Johnsons beautifully compliment Spinningfields’ iconic Pavillion – Manchester’s largest timber-frame building, which hosts The Ivy.
